Colombia is a country located in Northern part of South America, covers an area of 1,138,914 square kilometers and a population of 28,776,000 inhabitants. The capital is called Santa Fe de Bogota. The sisters went to Colombia at the request of S.M.I Priests
in order to collaborate with them in pastoral and social activities. The Missionary Daughters of Calvary arrived in Colombia on 30 March 1961, to a village called Quinchia. The began working on the promotion of women, paying visit to families, evangelizing in rural communities and finally they established a school called Our Lady of Sorrows which functioned till the sisters left 1974.
The delegation had a preferential option for the training of leaders and these individuals would take over the work and the sisters would move to the new zones to meet the most urgent cries and needs. They worked in these places: Aguachica, Medellin, Cartagena and Barrancabermeja.
They also trained leaders to run the small basic Christian communities like catechesis and religion teachers. These in turn would support the movement of youth groups, social ministry, adult literacy, health ministries and women clubs.

The community is under at a Parish and it collaborates at Diocesan level in the empowerment of various groups in order to acquire leadership skills. They also assist in the following activities: catechesis,
Bogota
The community of Bogota was founded on 10 January 1993, the principal goal was to establish a Novitiate, where the novices could participate in the Inter-congregational classes and get more training resources.
